At Rainbow Lunches it’s not only about bringing affordable nutrition to our community schools but a commitment to making a difference in the community we choose to operate our business. It started in 2005 when my husband and I decided to make the Claireville community, in Brampton our new home and where we were going to raise our family. We fell in love with the beauty of the William Hostrawser Valley which is the backdrop to our home and commercial kitchen where we currently operate. Being a good neighbour and a valued partner has always been important to me and I’ve always had a strong moral compass to guide me but I felt that I wanted to do more. For this reason, we helped found the “Claireville Clean Up Crew”.
Rainbow Lunches is all about service excellence and is the foundation of our company. Inspiring people to give back is essential to how we operate. We believe that strong communities attract new business and residents that feel connected. They make for a safe place where everyone can thrive and enjoy a great quality of life. Claireville Clean Up Crew operates with local volunteer residents, focused on strengthening and beautifying our community.
It started with just a few local residents that came together in order to do a litter and garbage collection in the valley and surrounding neighbourhood. It didn’t take long until other community residents began taking an interest in what we were doing. Since then we have been gathering every year for our Annual Green the Ravine – Spring Clean Up and Block Party, which has grown into a community event that hundreds of surrounding residents and businesses look forward to. Rainbow Lunches has provided us the outlet to help sponsor this event along with other countless community businesses. The event allows participants to pledge an “act of green” as we clean up garbage, plant vegetation throughout the valley and celebrate together with food, fun and activities.
We inspire students to get involved as a way of earning their “community hours” which is part of the school’s curriculum, share their talents and make a difference in their neighbourhood.
